PM Hun Sen Sends Condolences to Belgium After Floods

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has written to Belgian Prime Minister, Mr. Alexander De Croo, to express his condolences over the recent floods that have left more than 20 people dead. Thousands of others had to be evacuated.

The Prime Minister wrote: “On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, as well as on my own behalf, I would like to express my deepest condolences to His Excellency as well as the families of the victims, and I would like to express my sincere sympathy and best wishes to you. I hope the injured heal quickly.”

The Prime Minister’s letter was sent as Belgium's king and queen visited the flood-stricken town of Verviers to lead the nation in a minute’s silence. "All means will be used," said King Philippe in his traditional annual address on the eve of Belgium's independence day on 21 July. Together with Queen Mathilde he consoled those suffering in the wake of the floods that killed 31 people and left about 70 people missing. Some 10,000 volunteers are helping with the clean-up.
